Nikita Khrushchev, during a debate, said in reference to capitalism, “We will bury you” while banging his shoe upon his desk. Interestingly enough, communism was the entity that fell first, or did it? Could it be that communism went underground to see it’s rebirth in a slow methodical creeping acceptance of socialism? We are seeing an outcry from some for a socialized health care program. What Hillary Clinton could not get done during her husband’s administration seems to be coming to pass.
Further, we are watching our Federal Government take over key American businesses. Why does the government own controlling stakes in GM, Chrysler, Citicorp and who knows what else? Why are they are making major decisions for these companies; such as Chrysler being sold to Fiat, an Italian company? Is this what government has become? A capitalistic fraud now shrouded in Communistic style economics? Sure these companies need help, and sure they need direction, but is it really necessary for our government to be RUNNING corporations? Some might argue that our economy is failing, but I disagree, while many corporations may very well collapse I actually believe in capitalism and feel things would balance out. Should there have been some government intervention? Sure, but I’m not comfortable with Uncle Sam owning General Motors, or Chrysler… I’m pro capitalism… The Soviet Union did fail. Why? I believe when it gets right down to it, most human beings want to better themselves. When you are stuck in a system that says all are equal and you must be what WE say you are, there will always be a human will and resistance to settling for what’s handed to us. I suppose there are some that are merely looking for a handout to whom socialism sounds appealing. The majority, I believe, will resist this and try to make their life better. Later, when Khrushchev was commenting on his famous “shoe beating” comment stated, “I once got in trouble for saying, ‘We will bury you’. Of course, we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you.” I’m not sure I understand everything in his statement, but as our economy is faltering with greedy corporations getting bailed out and falling under the control of our Federal Government, I can’t help but think is Khrushchev’s communism coming to America? Have we allowed our corporations to hand over the reins of capitalism in the name of “saving” the economy?
Just a thought… buy a Ford.
